Breastfeeding Friendly Communities and Coalitions

Breastfeeding has been shown to provide the healthiest start for babies, with excellent nutrition plus many other benefits for both mother and child. CCCCNC is a partner in local breastfeeding coalitions, working to promote and protect breastfeeding, and nurture children as they grow.

For more information about CBFC or how your site can be recognized as Breastfeeding Friendly, please contact Sara Allen Taylor, Breastfeeding Project Director (518) 566-3463 or email sallentaylor@ccccnc.org

Creating Breastfeeding Friendly Communities

Creating Breastfeeding Friendly Communities (CBFC) is a grant-funded program through the New York State Department of Health, aimed at building widespread community support for breastfeeding families.

Goals for the CBFC program include:

  • Increasing the number of child care centers, child care homes, and health care provider offices that achieve NYS Breastfeeding Friendly designation
  • Working with employers to establish policies and provide appropriate accommodations for breastfeeding employees
  • Establishing BabyCafés™ in local areas where families may receive free breastfeeding support
  • Expanding community-based breastfeeding coalitions

CCCCNC works under Clinton County Health Department and with Southern Adirondack Child Care Network in this project to serve sites in Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Washington, and Warren Counties.
