The Infant Toddler Technical Assistance Services are part of the New York State Infant Toddler Network of Trainers and Technical Assistance Specialists. Our Region IV has three specialists with Ann Fraser serving Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties. Sarah Goulde Houde and Lorell Fitzsimmons cover the remaining counties in Region IV. This statewide initiative is aimed at supporting high quality infant and toddler care, using the 10 Components of High Quality Child Care for Infants and Toddlers.
The goals of the network are to make available information on best practices for infants and toddlers, promote and facilitate specialized training in infant and toddler care, to work with providers as they develop new opportunities for infant and toddler care, and to serve as a resource in promoting an understanding of improving the quality of care offered to infants and toddlers.
Help for childcare providers may include (but is not limited to): • Understanding the New York State OCFS Child Care Regulations • Specific nutritional needs of infants and toddlers • Health issues specific to infants and toddlers • Training specific to infants and toddlers • Answering parent questions regarding their infant or toddler • Starting up an infant/toddler program • Freedom of Movement Certification • Continuity of Care & Primary Caregiving Supports
