Training Programs


Training is offered to all licensed/registered childcare providers across the region.  These trainings meet the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (NYS OCFS) training topics that childcare providers are required to meet by regulations. These trainings are offered regionally in Malone, Plattsburgh, and Saranac Lake as well as through our Adirondack Family Resource Center Network.

The quarterly training calendar is available online and by mail to all registered/licensed child care providers.  Childcare Providers may be eligible for scholarship dollars through the New York State Child Care Educational Incentive Program (EIP Grants).

SUNY Video Conferences
Live video conferences are available evenings from 6:45pm to 9:15pm at the Child Care Council, Elizabethtown ACAP, and Malone free of charge.  The topics are varied, call for dates and more information is available at



Child Development Associate (CDA) Preparatory Program
This is a nationally recognized professional credential for individuals working in the early childhood field.  The 120 training hours meet NYS OCFS training requirements and may be eligible for college credits. Medication Administration Training (MAT)
The MAT course is a skill- based training to help childcare providers administer medication safely in their programs  In order for childcare providers to administer medication to children in there care they must complete the 8 hours MAT class, have CPR ,First Aid training, and an approved health plan. Health and Safety Training to become a Family or Group Family Childcare Provider
This is a 15 hours class required for all applicants in order to open a family or group family daycare.  This class meets NYS OCFS training requirements and requires a fee.  It is offered in Plattsburgh and Malone. In Clinton County, please contact Chris Denussi @ JCEO 518-561-6310 or e-mail at

August Training Week
This full week of training offers morning, afternoon, and evening training that meet NYS OCFS training  topics and may be eligible for EIP grants to cover cost.



Annual Conference
This conference is offered in the fall of each year in Plattsburgh to child care providers parents and staff that work with children and families.  It offers 6-8 hours of training that meets NYS OCFS training topics and may be eligible for EIP grants to cover costs.


Educational Incentive Program

Scholarship funding to participate in training may be available through the Educational Incentive Program (EIP), a scholarship program funded by NYS OCFS. Its purpose is to assist child care providers in paying for the professional development training and education they need to provide quality care to children. 1. Principles of childhood development, including the appropriate supervision of children, meeting the needs of children enrolled in the program with physical or emotional challenges and behavior management and discipline.

6. Child abuse and maltreatment identification and prevention.
